Do you have to reclear security to transfer between terminal 3 and terminal 2 at SFO?

Arriving on a domestic United flight and have to transfer to a domestic Cont flight. Do you have to reclear security to get from terminal 3 to 1? Or can you walk through terminal 2? Is there a shuttle (besides the pre-security AirTran)?
