My mum says she has MENOPAUSE... Is she just ill informed?

Some women start menopause in their late 30's...most in their 40's or 50's. It has nothing to do with how well her pregnancies went. She could be in perimenopause, which is the time when hormonal changes take place that lead to menopause. If she hasn't had a period for 12 months or more, she is considered to be in menopause...Although some women start menstruating again unexpectedly. It can be a very confusing time. Some symptoms would be hot flashes; night sweats; mood swings; fatigue; monthly changes with her period: one month might be very heavy with pain, the next might be very light, or it could stop for a few months and then show up again, but not every woman has any or all of these symptoms. She can see her doctor to have her hormone levels tested. The end of a woman's reproductive years doesn't automatically make her 'old'. Not sure why you think she would lie to you.
