Is there something I can do with my car impounded by troopers as evidence in a fatal accident 3 years ago?

The car has been released to me and I must do something with it within 7 days. My daughter's friend was driving the car and my 17 year old daughter was killed in the accident. The troopers were holding it as evidence for 3 years. They held it because there was a possibility of charging the driver with vehicular manslaughter. I do not know if the driver has been charged or not. There were personal items in the car which I was not allowed to take because the car was being held as evidence. In the letter from the troopers, nothing was mentioned about personal belongings. How do I check on that? What shall I do with the car? I have very little money.
